On Sunday October 22, Brendan Lowe will run the Valencia half-marathon in honour of his son Conor, who died in September 2012, and to raise money for Umamanita. Very generously, Brendan will also match any donated funds with his own contribution. We are very grateful for this amazing effort, thank you Brendan!

A message from Brendan:

The loss of a newborn child is a tragic, devastating and life-changing event. Sunday, October 15th is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It’s a day that honours lives lost to miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death.

On Sunday, October 22nd, 2023, I will be participating in the Valencia Half Marathon. I will be remembering our son Conor who died on September 13th, 2012, and all those babies whose lives were simply too short.

I will also be raising funds for Umamanita, a Spanish-based charity, with a strong Irish connection, that was instrumental in helping me and my wife María José take baby steps during our time of bereavement. Umamanita works tirelessly to support anyone affected by the death of a baby during or after pregnancy and to improve the healthcare received by families by providing training to hospital staff & institutions. They also carry out scientific research in the field of death prevention.

All proceeds raised will go directly to Umamanita (www.umamanita.es). I will match each € raised. I hope you can support this great cause by donating what you can.

Thank you,

Brendan
